Victory sometimes has its price. The South Carolina paid a stiff fine, $25,000, for allowing its students to storm the court after its 68-62 upset of No. Kentucky on Tuesday night.

A SEC sportsmanship rule prohibits fans from entering the court.

It was the second violation for South Carolina. The first came in a win over Kentucky five years ago. The Gamecocks were fined $5,000. A third violation would bring a $50,000 fine.

The policy prohibiting students from running on the court after a game went into effect in December 2004, just two weeks after the infamous brawl between the Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
