Stony Brook appears to be locked and loaded for next season. Seawolves coach Steve Pikiell announced the signing of Ahmad Reid, a 6-4 guard who starred for the Berkshire School this season.

A Port Washington native who also spent time at Schreiber High School and St. Dominic, Reid is Berkshire’s all-time leading scorer with 1,745 points and set the single-game scoring mark with 49.

Reid was named the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class B Player of the Year in 2011 and 2012. He also was a two-time first-team All-NEPSAC performer.

"Ahmad is as exciting and athletic a player as we have ever had in the program," Pikiell said. "He's a great kid who comes from a great family, and we're thrilled to have him join our program. It's also nice to bring a local kid back home to Long Island, where he will get to play in front of his family and friends. He's a get-to-the-basket athlete, and he will fit right in here at Stony Brook."

Reid is the last of several talented recruits set to suit up for the Seawolves next season. Joining Reid will be forward Jameel Warney, Carson Puriefoy III and Ryan Burnett.

"This is an exciting time for us," Pikiell said. "Ahmad really compliments this recruiting class. We have a big man in Jameel, a true point guard in Carson, a left-handed wing in Ryan and now a slasher in Ahmad. This is the best recruiting class we've had in my tenure, and I'm excited to coach this team in the fall."

The new recruits will join nine returning lettermen, including America East defensive player of the year Tommy Brenton and Dave Coley.
