Former North Babylon McDonald's All-American Bria Hartley scored eight of her nine points, including two three-pointers, in the final four minutes and Maya Moore led all scorers with 30 points as the Connecticut women's team edged Baylor, 65-64, extending its winning streak to 80 games.
Baylor (1-1) took a 58-53 lead with 4:37 left. But Tiffany Hayes hit two free throws and Hartley followed with a three to tie the score at 58 with 3:58 left. Hartley added a layup and another three over the final 2:46 to help lift the top-ranked Huskies (2-0).
The two-time defending champion Huskies haven't lost since falling to Stanford in the 2008 NCAA semifinal.
The UCLA men's team of 1974 holds the college record with 88 straight wins.
