USMMA kicker Jake McDonough connected on a 27-yard field goal as time expired to give host USMMA a 16-13 win over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Liberty League play Saturday.

McDonough went 3-for-4 on field goals and nailed a game-winning kick in the final seconds for the second consecutive week. Last week, the junior nailed a 24-yard field goal with 13 seconds left against Worcester Polytechnic Institute to hand the Mariners a 45-44 win.

USMMA (4-2 overall, 3-1 Liberty League) linebacker Issac Lee forced a fumble on a RPI punt return with 17 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and Justin Sydlowski recovered the ball for the Mariners at the RPI 14 yard-line. After a 3-yard run by Wiley Martin, USMMA called a timeout with two seconds left to set up the McDonough field goal.

Martin rushed for 64 yards on 21 carries and a touchdown, Brice Moore had a team-high 34 carries for 88 yards and Spencer Blauw added 11 carries for 69 yards.
