Erik Anderwkavich totaled 264 yards of offense, including three touchdown throws, as C.W. Post won its fourth straight with a 28-17 victory over visiting East Stroudsburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference football yesterday.
East Stroudsburg (1-6, 0-4) took a 14-12 lead with 8 minutes, 48 seconds left in the third quarter on a 21-yard touchdown reception by Dusty Reed.
Post (5-2, 4-0) answered with 10 consecutive points for a 22-14 lead on a 39-yard field goal by Keith Hadnagy and a 9-yard scoring pass from Anderwkavich to Grayson Laurino.
East Stroudsburg's Taylor Groff connected on a 37-yard field goal to cut the Pioneers' lead to 22-17.
But Donovan Edwards put it away for Post with 2:17 remaining when he returned an interception 68 yards for a score.
Anderwkavich was 15 of 29 passing for 205 yards and he also was the team's leading rusher with 59 yards on 12 carries. Darnel Williams caught five passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns.
USMMA 48, Rochester 19: J.L. Gosselin scored on touchdown runs of 1 and 81 yards, and Karl Heimbrock threw a 26-yard touchdown pass and ran for a touchdown from 2 yards out to lead USMMA (3-4, 2-1 Liberty) to its first win over Rochester in 15 games over a span of 58 years. Gosselin finished with 157 yards rushing. T. Washington, Kevin Stapf and Dan McGroarty each had interceptions.
USMMA took a 7-0 lead with 14:30 left in the second quarter on the TD pass from running back Heimbrock to Dan Lagomarsino. Rochester answered with a 1-yard scoring play with 9:23 left in the quarter and tied the score at 7, but USMMA came back with 21 straight points for a 28-7 lead.
Rochester drops to 0-5, 0-3.
Nassau CC 40, Globe Tech 7: Siriki Diabate had an 80-yard interception return for Nassau CC (7-0) in a non-conference game. Nadir Brown had a 20-yard touchdown reception and Steven Miller a 65-yard touchdown run for Nassau. Globe Tech is 4-3.
