In 2015.

Rivera, the son of the ex-Yankees relief star, was named Pitcher of the Year for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on Tuesday. The award was voted on by the conference's 11 head coaches.

The junior Rivera (who goes simply by "Mariano Rivera" -- and who could blame him?) was a three-time MAAC Pitcher of the Week for New Rochelle's Iona College, pitching six complete games, including three shutouts, in his 14 starts. He held opposing batters to a .211 average and didn't allow a home run.

The righthander struck out a career-high 13 hitters at Lehigh on Feb. 28.

In three seasons as a Gael, Rivera is 8-17 with a 4.52 ERA. He's allowed 192 hits in 191 innings, striking out 177 and walking 67.
