Just three days after a 38-35 double overtime loss to the Ravens, Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy landed the head coaching gig at the Chargers.

McCoy, considered one of the NFL's brightest minds after he rejiggered the Broncos' offense last year to suit Tim Tebow's strengths and who then had the benefit of working with Peyton Manning to run the 2012 unit, takes over for Norv Turner, who was fired after the regular season.

The AFC West now has three coaches associated with the Broncos: John Fox, who remains in Denver, Dennis Smith, the former defensive coordinator who became the Raiders' head coach in 2012, and now McCoy.

There are now three head coaching vacancies remaining: Philadelphia, Chicago and Arizona.
