Everyone loves Bear (well, almost everyone)
Tom Coughlin has been effusive in his praise of Bear Pascoe. Again today he spoke about how the tight end has come in and played fullback very well. “He did a good job the other day,” Coughlin said.
Madison Hedgecock is not as impressed. Why would he? He’s the guy Pascoe has replaced and he’s the guy who must be sweating his place on the team the more time Pascoe spends at fullback and the more comfortable he gets there.
“The positions are similar in the way they motion and line up,” Hedgecock said, pouring cold water on the spectacle of Pascoe switching positions on the fly as he did and quickly adjusting to fullback. “They’re the same positions really. You line up at the end or you line up at the backfield.”
Hedgecock even said he could easily move over and play tight end.
“The pass routes to the tight end are a little different,” he said. “The run blocking is basically the same. Either you run and hit somebody or you block off the ball.”
Hedgecock did say that he is feeling better every day with the hamstring injury he suffered against the Bears. He’s missed the last two games because of the injury and doesn’t know when he’ll be back. “That’s not my decision to make,” he said.
After that answer, Hedgecock had had enough. "I have to go," he said as he walked away from the interview.
