Manning: Rolle needs to realize he's not in AZ anymore
Eli Manning said he doesn’t listen to a lot of the interviews his teammates give to radio stations. He’s sometimes briefed on the basics of them before he meets with the media, especially if someone said something controversial. Like today, for instance, he was told about Antrel Rolle’s comments on WFAN on Tuesday.
Manning’s thoughts on the comments?
“I think sometimes you just have to remember where you are,” he said. “Anything you say outside of this locker room is going to get blown up. Antrel is new to New York, he’s got to get accustomed to that.”
Rolle isn’t the only player who has been in the headlines lately for off-the-field behavior or comments. Manning addressed that as well.
“Brandon is Brandon,” he said. “You come to deal with that. Brandon knows he made a mistake and we’ve talked a little bit. But now it’s about playing football. You can do all the talking … It doesn’t matter what you say to the media or if you make a complaint, it’s not going to fix anything. If you have problems, you keep it within the team. You say something to the captains or to the coaches and it’s about … We got beat on Sunday. It’s hard. We have to accept that. But it’s not what you say after it, it’s how you get back up, how you respond this next week.”
Manning said Rolle will get the hang of things.
“I think everybody learns,” Manning said. “I made mistakes in the media when I first got here. I still make mistakes. It’s just a part of being careful of everything you say.”
