One last blog post before I wrap up the preseason from New Meadowlands Stadium. And it’s about the guy with the biggest smile in the post-game locker room.

Kevin Boss? Eli Manning? Antrel Rolle?

Nope. It was Shawn Andrews.

“The thrill is not gone,” he said with a big grin. “It’s there, man. I was just having fun like I used to. It was cool, man.”

He was also playing really well in both run blocking and pass protection. And he said he’s getting close to being ready to start pushing for regular-season playing time.

“I think the big thing for me is getting the terminology down,” he said. “My main focus is first making the 53-man roster. There aren’t any guarantees here. And once I get the plays which I’m studying day in and day out – I’m gonna get it, it’s coming to me – my game is going to be back to where it was.”

Andrews said he likes playing at the 330 or so pounds he’s at now. “It allows me to move and display my athleticism,” he said. “It also flashes a little sexy.”

And he said that physically he feels great. He has some general football soreness, but the back injuries that kept him out of football for almost two years are non-factors.

Of course they were on his mind when he got his first reps last week in Baltimore.

“Last week in my mind I was hoping everything goes well, and it did,” he said. “That was the big test for me. This week I didn’t think about the back. I was like ‘Hey, as far as I’m concerned I’m going into my seventh year and getting ready for the games. It’s just a new team and a new system, but once I get it, all bets are off.”
