Jets and Giants fans, prepare to step into the future.
Through partnerships with Verizon and Cisco, New Meadowlands Stadium will feature innovative amenities and technology the teams hope will give fans a unique, cutting-edge viewing experience like no other, officials announced Monday.
The $1.6-billion stadium, which seats 82,500, will feature four JumboTrons that will show live game footage and weather information, displays in concession and team store areas, as well as mobile phone applications that display team news, highlights and concessions information. Fans sitting in the 200 luxury suites at the stadium will also be able to order food and merchandise through touch-screen TVs mounted in their suites.
The Jets and Giants hope all the new gadgets provide a multimedia experience at the stadium that is not only comparable, but surpasses, the typical living room experience.
"When you're watching a game at home, comforts don't stop at the screen and we don't believe the enjoyment of a live sports event should stop at the field," Jets owner Woody Johnson said. "We've made the New Meadowlands Stadium more information-rich than any sporting venue has ever been, and we've made it as comfortable and well-stocked as your dream kitchen and living room."
Giants co-owner John Mara said, "When fans enter New Meadowlands, they are going to feel like they're stepping into the future."
