The NFL draft scouting report on Eli Apple is pretty straightforward. At 6-1 and 199 pounds, the Ohio State sophomore is a tall, strong cornerback who ran a 4.40 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. He’s expected to be a mid-to-late first-round pickThursday night.

But one anonymous scout reportedly found what he believed to be a rotten part of Apple’s game – and it had nothing to do with his on-field ability.

“The kid has no life skills. At all. Can’t cook,” an anonymous scout told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel as part of an annual scouting report series. “Just a baby. He’s not first round for me. He scares me to death.”

Braxton Miller, Apple’s teammate at Ohio State of three years and one of 21 Buckeyes in the draft, couldn’t help but laugh as he backed Apple’s culinary skills in the wake of the report.

“Eli’s got great cooking skills,” Miller told Newsday on Wednesday. “He threw down last week [at a] big barbecue. He’s got skills. I don’t know what they’re talking about . . . He had it all. It was nice. Everything: fruit, salad, barbecue. I give props to him, man, he’s got good cooking skills.”

Miller, who was on a call to promote Courtyard’s NFL Draft Town in Chicago, said that the best thing Apple has made his team is barbecue, adding that “he puts some Sweet Baby Ray’s [barbecue sauce] on there.”

Several other people close to Apple took to Twitter to weigh in the cornerback’s cooking.

“Btw, Eli’s dad is a retired five star chef. We eat well. So stop playing with our name. Next time you say our name, put some respeck on it”, Apple’s mom, Annie, tweeted.

“Eli has made me some fire fried chicken and mac and cheese. The source seems to be pretty unreliable,” Buckeyes running back and possible top-10 pick Ezekiel Elliott tweeted.

Even the Denver Broncos’ Bradley Roby, a former Ohio State cornerback, joined the party: “I can’t cook either ! Maybe hot pockets at best lol .. And I’m a SUPERBOWL CHAMPION.”
