The NFL players' union confirms it has filed a collusion claim against the league's owners. The case has been filed with the same special master who is considering the union's complaint about the league's TV contracts.
In December, the league and the players' union agreed to extend the deadline to file a collusion claim.
NFL owners and players are trying to negotiate a collective bargaining agreement to replace the one that expires in March.
Umenyiora has surgery
Osi Umenyiora had surgery on his hip in New York on Monday, hoping to alleviate issues that have lingered since he tore his labrum in 2006.
Surgery was recommended for the Giants' defensive end last summer, but Umenyiora was told the injury would not worsen and he decided to play through the discomfort.
His recovery time is expected to be about three months. He had 11.5 sacks.
