Santonio Holmes: 2 QB system can't work

The Jets have made it clear that Mark Sanchez is the starting quarterback and that Tim Tebow will be used in wildcat formations. But if they get into a situation where the quarterbacks are alternating snaps on a regular basis, then wide receiver Santonio Holmes isn’t for it.
Asked in an interview tonight on NFL Network if a two-quarterback system can work in the NFL, Holmes replied, “No.”
“You have to allow one quarterback to get in the rhythm of a game,” he said. “And it starts from the preparation of practice.”
Holmes said he hopes the Jets are patient with Sanchez, especially if he makes mistakes early in games.
“Making mistakes early in the game to finishing the game at the end, you don’t change a guy out just because he has a few mistakes early in a game,” Holmes said. “So I think coming into the season we have a lot to expect from Sanchez.”
Holmes will no doubt be a focus of attention this season, especially after he finished off the Jets’ 8-8 season by arguing with teammates late in a loss to the Dolphins. He was benched with two minutes left in the game. Holmes has expressed support for Sanchez during the off-season. But as we’ve seen with him before, it’s easy to say one thing before the games start; it’s another when the losses start to pile up.
