Texans rally in fourth, beat Chiefs on late TD
Andre Johnson caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Matt Schaub with 28 seconds left to complete a stunning fourth-quarter comeback in a 35-31 win over the Chiefs Sunday in Houston.
The Texans (4-2) scored touchdowns on their final four possessions to make up for another rocky day by their defense. Houston gave up 228 yards rushing to Kansas City (3-2) and yielded a 100-yard receiver for the fifth time in six games.
"We've got to tackle better, we've got to cover better, we've got to do everything better," coach Gary Kubiak said. "The key right now is we've got to play really big offensively."
To make matters worse, Texans All-Pro linebacker DeMeco Ryans was lost for the season when he ruptured his left Achilles' tendon late in the first half.
Colts 27, Redskins 24
Peyton Manning threw for 307 yards and two TDs as Indianapolis (4-2) edged host Washington (3-3). Joseph Addai ran for 128 yards and a TD for the Colts before leaving with a shoulder injury. Indianapolis, which amassed 469 yards, lost three fumbles in the second half to keep the Redskins in the game.
Eagles 31, Falcons 17
Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson each scored two touchdowns as host Philadelphia (4-2) snapped the four-game winning streak of Atlanta (4-2). A head-on collision in the second quarter knocked Jackson and Falcons cornerback Dunta Robinson out of the game with head injuries.
Rams 20, Chargers 17James Hall, Chris Long and Larry Grant each had two sacks as St. Louis (3-3) stuffed the NFL's top offense for its third straight home win. Sam Bradford threw a 38-yard TD pass to fellow rookie Danario Alexander.
Philip Rivers was sacked seven times, and the Chargers (2-4) lost tight end Antonio Gates with a left ankle injury in the first half.
Saints 31, Bucs 6
Drew Brees threw for 263 yards and three TDs as New Orleans (4-2) rolled up 476 yards. Rookie Chris Ivory ran for 158 yards as the defending Super Bowl champions exceeded 30 points for the first time this season. Host Tampa Bay is 3-2.
Seahawks 23, Bears 20
Matt Hasselbeck threw for a season-best 242 yards for Seattle (3-2), which sacked Jay Cutler six times. Chicago's Devin Hester returned a punt 89 yards in the fourth quarter, equaling a record with his 13th kick-return TD. The host Bears fell to 4-2.
49ers 17, Raiders 9
Alex Smith threw second-half scoring passes to Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis to lift the host 49ers (1-5). Frank Gore ran for 149 yards for San Francisco, which denied Oakland (2-4) its first back-to-back wins since 2008.
