Seidman leads Holy Trinity to semifinals
Tyler Seidman had 15 points, three assists and three steals for second-seeded Holy Trinity in a 68-51 win over St. Dominic Friday in the CHSAA boys basketball quarterfinals.
Richard Bess added 14 points and eight rebounds, Tom Botsaris had 12 points and six assists, and Nick Ferreiro chipped in 10 points and seven assists for the Titans (15-10).
Darren Chew scored 20 points for No. 7 St. Dominic. Holy Trinity will face No. 3 Chaminade in the semifinals at 1 p.m. Sunday at C.W. Post.
Chaminade 60, Kellenberg 41: Kevin Sheehy scored 14 points to lead No. 3 Chaminade (18-6). Richard Zoller added 13 points, nine rebounds and three blocks, and Luke Colombo had eight points and 10 rebounds. Marco Martino had 14 points for No. 5 Kellenberg.
St. Anthony's 59, St. John the Baptist 46: Marko Peraica had 14 points and six rebounds to lead No. 4 St. Anthony's (10-13) in a CSHAA quarterfinal. Andre Walker added 13 points, four assists and two steals, and Nigel Carter had nine points and five rebounds. St. Anthony's will face No. 1 St. Mary's at 2:45 p.m. Sunday at C.W. Post.
Port Jefferson 69, Ross 46: Anthony Lanieri scored 10 points during a 16-0 third-quarter run to lead Port Jefferson past Ross, 69-46, in the Suffolk C-D boys basketball final Friday at Farmingdale State. Senior Terell Rose led Port Jefferson (13-7) with 18 points, nine rebounds and five assists. Lanieri finished with 14 points and teammate Greg Nielsen added 12. Ross’ Brandon Pettaway led all scorers with 22 points. Ross pulled within 27-22 late in the second quarter, but three-point baskets from Rose and Philip Lanieri helped extend the lead to 10 by halftime. Mary Louis Academy 58, Long Island Lutheran 57: Paige Kriftcher had 16 points and six assists, Sam Milhaven added 14 points and eight rebounds, and Boogie Brozoski had 11 points and five assists for Lutheran (19-5) in non-league.
