On a cold night, Cold Spring Harbor further cooled down Carle Place as the Seahawks flew to their fourth consecutive county title.

Chase Burke scored with 23:25 left in the first half and No. 1 Cold Spring Harbor cruised from there in a 2-0 win over No. 2 Carle Place in the Nassau Class B final last night at Denton Avenue Field in New Hyde Park.

CSH (10-3-3) will play Center Moriches in the Long Island Championship at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Dowling Sports Complex.

"We just wanted to knock it out to start the game and get everybody pumped up," Burke said. "It really got the game going and we never let up."

Burke's shot went into an open net after Carle Place keeper Nicole Veigas came out of its confines to try and make the stop. But Burke beat Veigas to the ball and fired it through for the only goal CSH would need.

Teressa Fazio scored an insurance goal with 12:20 left in the half.

Carle Place (7-5-2), making its first appearance in a title game since becoming a varsity program four years ago, had plenty of chances but wasn't able to get the all-important finish.

"They fought hard, they never gave up," coach Erik Tonner said. "It's been an unbelievable season. We just had two defensive breakdowns."
