James McGrath scored the winner with 1:58 remaining in overtime to lead Carey to a 5-4 victory over Long Beach in Nassau B boys lacrosse on Wednesday. Chris Obertis scored three goals and Christian Korszloski added a goal. Richie Metzger made 15 saves for Carey (2-0). Luke Hartman scored two goals and Aiden DeRupo made 12 saves for Long Beach (2-1).

New Hyde Park 13, Sewanhaka 1: Aidan Garvey scored six goals and had three assists to lead New Hyde Park (2-1) in Nassau B. Cody McClean had five goals and three assists. Anthony LaSala scored a goal. Matt Muntzenberger made eight saves. Kevin Parapa scored for Sewanhaka (0-2).

TUESDAY’S GAMES

Floral Park 11, North Shore 10: Steven Baranoski scored the winning goal in double overtime to lead Floral Park (3-0) in Nassau C/D. Baranoski had four goals. Ben Meighan had a goal and three assists and Marcus Mega had two goals. Owen Sanchez added three goals and two assists. Sean Hallock made 12 saves. Sawyer Deseve had four goals and Griffin Pinter made 11 saves for North Shore (0-2).

GIRLS LACROSSE

North Babylon 18, Brentwood 2: Angela Taddeo had seven goals and three assists to lead North Babylon (1-2) in Suffolk I. Kat Iudica had three goals and two assists. Vivian Mace and Alyssa Cuevas each scored two goals. Molly Oak scored a goal and Ryleigh Zamora had a goal and an assist. Liz Byrne made 10 saves. Bianca Concepcion scored two goals for Brentwood (0-2).

TUESDAY’S GAMES

Miller Place 9, Harborfields 3: Mirabella Altebrando had three goals and three assists to lead Miller Place (2-0) in Suffolk II. Sophia Ingenito and Bella Luisa each had two goals. Isabella Monteleone had two goals for Harborfields (2-1).

BASEBALL

Sachem East 4, Lindenhurst 3: Alex Apicella drove in the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to lead Sachem East (1-0) in Suffolk II. James McGinness and Matt Grande led off the seventh with walks and Kyle Dickinson loaded the bases with a single. Bryan Schwabe drove in the tying run with a single. Jake King struck out five in six innings and Bryan Schwabe recorded the save. 

Miller Place 10, Islip 3: Alex Strickland went 4-for-4 with a walk, two runs, three RBIs and four stolen bases for Miller Place (2-0) in Suffolk VI. Joe Fallon went 3-for-5 with a triple, two RBIs and a run. Nick Frusco went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two walks. Mikey Monaco had two hits, two walks and scored two runs. 

St. Anthony’s 2, Chaminade 0: Alex Bono went 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and a stolen base to lead St. Anthony’s (1-1) in the CHSAA. Kevin Baez struck out two in six scoreless innings. Luke Coats struck out two in the seventh to pick up the save and Christian Mugno had an RBI. John Murray struck out two for Chaminade (1-1).

SOFTBALL

St. Anthony’s 10, St. Mary’s 0: Melissa Gordon struck out 12 and allowed no hits in four innings for St. Anthony’s (2-0) in the CHSAA. Jackie Morra had three hits, including a home run, and five RBIs. Juli Murillo hit two home runs and had four RBIs.

TUESDAY’S GAMES

Bellport 24, Centereach 12: Bridget Barry went 3-for-5 with two home runs, a double, eight RBIs and four runs to lead Bellport (1-1) in Suffolk III. Kayla Button went 5-for-6 with five runs and an RBI. Giulia Gannon went 3-for-4 with four RBIs and five runs.

Westhampton 5, Eastport-South Manor 3: Addison Celi struck out 15, allowed two hits and went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs to lead Westhampton in its non-league opener. Rylee McGinness went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run. McKenna Gevinski went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs. Elaina Keller struck out six batters for Eastport-South Manor (2-1).
