Ryan Filippi scored six goals to lead Port Jefferson, 8-5, over Whitman in non-league boys lacrosse on Saturday. Owen Whiffen made 12 saves in Port Jefferson’s opener. Cade Delgado went 13-for-15 faceoffs. Ryan Kaiser had two goals for Whitman (0-2).

Floyd 11, Eastport-South Manor 7: Jayden Bonner had three goals and two assists to lead Floyd in its non-league opener. JD Dolzeal, Mikey Maglione and Marc Pluchino each scored two goals. Luke Tiedman made 15 saves. Preston Vinch had two goals and an assist for Eastport-South Manor.

Plainedge 14, Locust Valley 7: Owen Donnellan had four goals and three assists for Plainedge (1-1) in Nassau C/D. Jack O’Connor had four goals. Phillip Terrell and Owen Hickey each had three goals and an assist for Locust Valley (0-1). Grayson Iannotti made seven saves.

FRIDAY’S GAMES

Bayport-Blue Point 8, Wantagh 7: Ryan Hannaford had four goals and an assist to lead Bayport-Blue Point (2-0) in non-league. Connor Curran had a goal and an assist and Brady Smith made 11 saves. Dylan Martini, Luke Martini and Jake Martini each scored two goals for Wantagh (1-1).

Commack 8, Massapequa 7: Brandon Berozi had three goals and two assists for Commack (1-1) in non-league. Vinny Pittito had three goals and an assist and James Pagano had a goal and an assist. Colin Caputo made eight saves. Jack Garguilo scored three goals and Michael Jannottee made 10 saves for Massapequa (0-2).

GIRLS LACROSSE

Bellport 15, Riverhead 6: Cassidy Hanley and Brynn Johnsen each had four goals and an assist to lead Bellport (1-1) in non-league. Taylor LaGrega scored four goals and Andie Pedatella had three. Ava Salinas made seven saves. Logan Pilon had four goals and an assist for Riverhead (0-2).

Mattituck 10, Vestal 4: Gianna Calise had four goals and an assist and Page Kellershon had three goals and an assist for Mattituck in non-league.

FRIDAY’S GAMES

Sayville 9, Floyd 4: Sophia Buffardi scored three goals and Sofia Cangelosi and Olivia Desimone each added two goals to lead Sayville (1-0) in non-league.

Smithtown East 12, Commack 10: Smithtown East (2-0) scored eight runs in the bottom of the fifth inning in Suffolk II. Amelianna Santanello hit a three-run triple to cut Smithton East’s deficit to one run and scored on a Casey Connelly infield single to tie the game. Olivia Scannepieco put Smithtown East ahead with a two-run single. The game was called due to darkness after the fifth inning.

West Islip 8, Centereach 2: Camryn Mariano hit a three-run home run in the first inning and had four RBIs to lead West Islip in its non-league opener. Emily Bouros struck out 12 and had a two-RBI single in the second inning. Emma Taliercio-McNamara drove in Nichole Olivieri with a double in the sixth. Vanessa Suarez drove in a run for Centereach.

FLAG FOOTBALL

MacArthur 27, East Rockaway 7: Meghan Wetzel had a 42 yard rushing touchdown and a 10 yard receiving touchdown to lead MacArthur (2-0) in non-league. Sara Kealey threw a touchdown to Hailey Metzger and Sofia Maris added a rushing touchdown. Maris had a sack and made a tackle in the endzone for a safety. Gina Iannuzzi had an interception. Hailey Metzger and Marcela Sanchez each had four flag pulls. Stephanie Lynch scored a 40 yard rushing touchdown for East Rockaway (1-1).

West Hempstead 7, Herricks 0: Katelin Martin completed a 25-yard flea flicker to Jancy Cabrera, to set up Cabrera’s three-yard touchdown run as West Hempstead (2-0) defeated Herricks (0-2).
