Blanco, Merker lead Mercy girls tennis
Erica Blanco and Shannon Merker defeated Remy Kneski and Sammy Vickers, 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (7-4) in the clinching match at first doubles as Mercy (7-2) dealt Westhampton (8-1) its first league loss, 4-3, in Suffolk League VII girls tennis.
BOYS SOCCER
Sayville 2, Kings Park 1: Cameron Russ scored from 10 yards 3:21 into overtime to win it for Sayville (5-0) in League V. Rich Geiger made a point-blank save in overtime to preserve the tie.
Port Washington 3, Valley Stream Central 2: Luke Rizzo scored the winner from 16 yards with 5:00 left for Port Washington (3-2-2) in Conference II.Division 1, Lawrence 0: Shane McLaughlin scored off Ryan Billian's header in the 71st minute for Division (5-1-1 Conference V).
GIRLS SOCCER
Patchogue-Medford 1, Floyd 0: Erika Flowers scored on a direct kick from 20 yards with 5:02 left for PM (2-3 League I). Ashley Monzillo made 10 saves for PM.
FIELD HOCKEY
Bayport-Blue Point 1, Babylon 1: Melissa Lawrence won it in strokes for BBP (3-4) in Division II. BBP's Jackie Muller tied the score with 3:04 left in regulation.
Bay Shore 3, Lindenhurst 2: Courtney Syrett tied it on a penalty stroke with 7:52 to go and won it on a feed from Kyra Harney with 3:34 to play for Bay Shore (5-2).
