You can call the Islanders the new blueshirts.
Four blue designs made it to the second round of voting for the Islanders’ fan-designed third jersey for the 2027-28 NHL season, the team announced on Friday night.
Three blue designs beat three orange ones that fans had submitted as part of a contest that begin on July 8. A fourth contest in the bracket-style completion was blue vs. blue.

None of the votes were close, with the winning designs earning between 62.3% to 70.9% of the vote in their categories.
The Islanders received more than 80,000 submissions and whittled them down to eight for fan voting.
Four contenders remain: A fisherman vs. a lighthouse in one bracket and a “NY” logo with the “Y” in the shape of a hockey stick vs. a sweater with “Islanders” printed across the chest in the other.
Voting to determine the final two begins on Saturday at noon at www.newyorkIslanders.com and ends on Monday at 5 p.m.
A final vote for the last two entries standing will take place Aug. 18-20. The winner will be revealed soon thereafter.
The creator of the overall winning design will receive a team-signed third jersey and tickets to the 2027-28 game in which the jersey will make its on-ice debut. The jersey cannot be used in the 2026-27 season because it takes two years to make an NHL jersey and get the design approved by the league.
