Sutton feels "awful" about hit on former teammate Pascal Dupuis; hopes he's OK
After the game, a visibly upset Andy Sutton expressed remorse over his hit on Pascal Dupuis and concern over his former teammate's well-being.
"I feel awful," said Sutton, who played with Dupuis in Minnesota and Atlanta. "I played with Pascal for a long time and I obviously never intended that to happen."
The massive 6-6 defenseman received a five-minute major penalty for boarding and a game misconduct after drilling Dupuis in the back along the end boards late in the third period of the Islanders' 6-4 loss to Pittsburgh Tuesday night.
Sutton was honest when asked if he thought the hit was clean:
"No, Pascal was injured. I just hope he's okay and that's all I can say."
When asked if he anticipated any supplemental discipline, Sutton replied, "I don't know."
