PRAGUE, Czech Republic -- Artem Anisimov and Ruslan Fedotenko scored in the second period Thursday to give the Rangers a 2-0 win over Sparta Prague in a preseason game.

Anisimov scored with a backhander off a pass from Tim Erixon before Fedotenko doubled the lead on a power play less than three minutes later.

The Rangers play Frolunda in Sweden today, Slovan Bratislava in Slovakia on Sunday and EV Zug in Switzerland on Monday. They return to Sweden to start the regular season against the Los Angeles Kings and the Anaheim Ducks on Oct. 7-8 in Stockholm. -- AP

Rangers All-Star defenseman Marc Staal, who has been experiencing headaches and did not accompany the team to Europe on Monday, will report to Hartford Friday to work out with the Whale.

Staal, 24, who was diagnosed with a concussion following a high hit from his brother, Eric, in Carolina on Feb. 22, saw a number of specialists last week.

Coach John Tortorella told reporters in Prague on Thursday that if Staal fared well, he could join the team in Europe before the season opener against the Kings on Oct. 7 in Stockholm.
