Controversial radio host Craig Carton will return for this third stint at WFAN in a new afternoon show beginning Jan. 5, the station announced on Wednesday.
Carton’s return had been known since news first broke on Dec. 1. But the start date and the full extent of the shuffle in WFAN’s lineup was not revealed until Wednesday.
Carton will host “The Carton Show” alongside Chris McMonigle from 2-7 p.m.
"WFAN has always been home to me,” Carton said in a statement. “Having the opportunity to return and rejoin the best sports talk station in the world is an opportunity I am eagerly looking forward to and beyond excited for.”
Current afternoon hosts Evan Roberts and Tiki Barber will move to 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
There was no word on the fate of current mid-morning hosts Sal Licata and Brandon Tierney.
Tommy Lugauer will host a new evening show called “After Hours" from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.
The overnight position has not been filled with a permanent host since Keith McPherson quit last month.
"Craig Carton's return reaffirms WFAN's position as New York's premier sports destination for big personalities, compelling conversation and highly engaging content that is difficult to ignore,” Chris Oliviero, chief business officer and New York market president for WFAN’s parent company, Audacy, said in a statement. “Our 2026 lineup has familiar marquee voices all day and all night, guaranteeing that whenever you tune into The Fan, you will be smack dab in the middle of the New York sports culture."
Carton’s previous stints at WFAN were from 2007-17 when he co-hosted the “Boomer and Carton” show with Boomer Esiason, and from 2020-’23, when was paired with Roberts before Carton left for an FS1 TV gig. Carton’s FS1 show was canceled in July, and talk about his return to WFAN began immediately. In between his two previous WFAN stints, Carton spent about a year in prison after he was arrested on federal fraud and conspiracy charges in relation to a gambling addiction.
Carton now hosts several public service programs centered around responsible gambling. His weekend WFAN show, "Hello, My Name Is Craig," has aired since 2021 and is regarded as one of the top addiction-oriented podcasts available, according to Audacy. Carton is also a “responsible gaming ambassador” for FanDuel.
