Fox names Joe Davis as new lead baseball announcer

Fox named Joe Davis its new lead baseball play-by-play announcer on Friday. He will succeed Joe Buck, who held that job for a quarter century before leaving to join ESPN on "Monday Night Football."
Davis, who will continue as the Dodgers' lead play-by-play announcer, will work with analyst John Smoltz on Fox's top events - the All-Star Game, the Field of Dreams game and the postseason, including the World Series.
Davis called the job "a dream come true."
Neil Best first worked at Newsday in 1982, returned in 1985 after a detour to Alaska and has been here since, specializing in high schools, college basketball, the NFL and most recently sports media and business.
