Jack Craig, nation's first full-time sports media critic, dies at 81
When Newsday's Stan Isaacs began his TV Sports column on Feb. 12, 1978, he became the second full-time newspaper sports media critic in America.
The first, Jack Craig of the Boston Globe, died Friday at age 81.
Here is an obituary on the pioneer for the tiny fraternity of people with jobs such as mine. (There are far fewer of us than there used to be outside of the New York market.)
The first telecast he ever reviewed: The NFL Championship Game on Dec. 31, 1967, better known as the Ice Bowl.
