Jets games will not be blacked out
Before I offer to resign in disgrace for having waited until Friday's paper to write about the Jets' PSL situation, thus allowing the NY Post to beat me to it here, I must offer a clarification on a key point in Bart Hubbuch's story:
The Jets will not be blacked out in 2010, even if they don't sell out of non-premium seats (which they insist they will), because they will not allow themselves to be.
Teams can avoid local TV blackouts simply by writing the NFL a check for the visiting team share of the unsold tickets - 34 percent of their face value - and the Jets intend to do that.
So while empty seats might be embarrassing and costly for the team, fans in the New York area will not miss games on TV regardless.
