I don't necessarily fault John Sterling and Michael Kay for turning up in such prominent locations behind Barack Obama in photos of the Yankees' visit to Washington.

It appears people were arranged in height order, with limited consideration given to their contributions to the Yankees' 2009 championship - and with limited ability to negotiate their placement.

And I have no doubt they are valued members of the Yankees' extended family.

But it was an awkward look, one players who were out of the frame could not have appreciated.

For future reference, teams might want to keep their announcers separate from players and team executives during celebratory visits to the White House.
