Random weekend thoughts:

Sunday afternoon the Knicks went head-to-head against the Rangers, with both teams facing old rivals from Boston on national broadcast networks.

How'd that go? The Knicks averaged 9.6 percent of homes in the New York area on ABC for their overtime loss to the Celtics. The Rangers averaged 1.9 percent on NBC for their victory over the Bruins.

So the Knicks had the edge by roughly a 5:1 ratio.

Speaking of the Knicks game . . . Look, I understand reasonable people can disagree over whether the Knicks should have fouled Paul Pierce before he had a chance to launch the game-tying three-pointer late in regulation time.

(I am firmly in the foul him camp.)

But reasonable people certainly can agree that Mike Tirico and Hubie Brown at least should have brought up the topic for discussion.

Moving on...

Stony Brook's conference semifinal buzzer beater Sunday landed in the No. 1 spot on SportsCenter's Top 10 Plays of the Week.

I am guessing that was a first for the program.
