Those sports talk show hosts and many others will be teammates of sorts beginning Tuesday at 3 a.m. as WFAN and 22 other Audacy-owned stations begin a new deal by being carried on SiriusXM.

Listeners to the subscription-based satellite radio behemoth SiriusXM can (for a fee) chose to tune in for the first time to local stations such as New York’s WFAN or Philadelphia’s 94WIP or Boston’s WEEI in addition to national sports talk radio stations such as Mad Dog Sports Radio and ESPN Radio.

Is it too much sports talk radio for one person to handle? Or is it just the right amount?

“I would make the case that this is the dawn of a golden age,” said Schein, a SiriusXM host who used to work at WFAN. “An unprecedented era with unprecedented access for sports radio . . . [When I heard], I started pumping my fist. I think it's such a brilliant, calculated win for SiriusXM, and most especially for the sports fan. We have the best sports radio stations on the planet . . . And to add local stations, signature stations, including the number one local sports radio station in the history of sports radio in WFAN, the station that I grew up on, that made me fall in love with sports radio, that I used to work for, that I used to intern for, that I was obsessed with as a kid, that shaped my life, it put a big smile on my face.”

Will it make listeners smile? The payoff could be huge, especially if the shows and hosts do crossover events. Since the partnership was announced in July, feelers already have been sent out, but not all of them contained good vibes: There  already has been a dust-up as one SiriusXM host took shots at WFAN’s Esiason.

Katie Nolan, who hosts a mid-day show on Mad Dog Sports Radio, did a segment about Esiason in which she mocked him and replayed some of his more controversial takes.

“Hey, Boomer, welcome to the team, big dog,” Nolan said on the air. “Clean it up, you know? And bring your little laughing friend.”

Nolan, who later said the segment was a “bit” and not to be taken seriously, was referring to Esiason’s morning show co-host, Gregg Giannotti.

Everyone loves a good sports talk radio feud, right? Esiason and Giannotti did not immediately respond, but their executive producer, Al Dukes, did on WFAN’s “The Warm-Up Show.”

"Her and a million other people have a podcast that no one even knows exists over at SiriusXM," Dukes said. "Unless your name is Howard Stern or Mad Dog Russo, nobody knows you have a show on SiriusXM."

Then Carton weighed in, saying “I was a little disappointed that there was no response to it other than [Dukes] . . . How do you let somebody attack you and refer to Gregg, who I love, as 'his laugh-along buddy' and not attack back?"

Play nice, people! You’re on the same team now!

Esiason did speak about the new partnership on the air when he revealed that Russo — the former WFAN legend — had left him a vague voicemail about the possibility of Esiason going on Russo’s show.

“He left me a message as ‘I got something for you. You might want to do this,’ ” Esiason said on the air. “Which led me to believe that there was some sort of payment attached to it. Ten years ago, I was told I couldn’t do anything in SiriusXM. Now all of a sudden we — I guess I can do things with SiriusXM.”

In true morning show fashion, Esiason added that he would look to charge SiriusXM “I don’t know, 100 grand.”

While that amount seems unlikely, there probably will be some crossover between SiriusXM and the local stations.

“We plan on definitely utilizing all of the talent that is available,” said Schein, host of “Schein on Sports” on Mad Dog Sports Radio. “That's something we've talked about as a staff, and we will definitely be doing that, whether it's guys from WFAN or guys from different channels in different markets . . . I have a ton of friends and colleagues and connections, of course, with WFAN. Boomer’s been on the show on numerous occasions. We've had Gregg Giannotti on, so I'm sure we'll tap into those guys and have them on ‘Schein on Sports.’ ”

Audacy, WFAN’s parent company, declined a Newsday request to make one of its WFAN hosts available for an interview on the upcoming partnership.

When the deal was announced, Audacy CEO and president Kelli Turner said in a statement: “Audacy’s sports brands are deeply connected to the cities, teams and fan communities they serve, and being able to extend our reach nationally through SiriusXM is a natural fit. We look forward to working together with SiriusXM to bring our outstanding talent and content to sports fans and news and talk listeners wherever they are.”

The main meat of this deal for New York sports fans is that WFAN’s entire lineup — including live Yankees and Giants games — will be carried by SiriusXM on channel 94.

Fans can sign up for the satellite provider with non-discounted plans ranging from $11.99 to $46.99 a month.

A week after the partnership was announced, SiriusXM introduced a new plan called “Sports Pass” that allows new subscribers to get all of the sports stations for $5 a month or $49 a year.

So you can listen to Esiason and Giannotti in the morning and then switch over to Schein’s show and then back to Roberts and Tiki Barber and then over to Russo and maybe take in a little Carton on the drive home . . .

Wait, does that mean the parties are in competition for the hearts and ears of listeners?

“It's not even remotely competition,” Schein said. “I’ve been at SiriusXM for 22 years, and you promote everything within. If there's a special pop-up channel, we promote it. We promote other sports channels. If John Mayer's having an incredible concert, we promote that. It's giving listeners an opportunity to explore different things. The beauty is, if you have a habit, let's say you're a big New York sports fan and you're living in California, now you can buy the ‘Sports Pass’ for SiriusXM, and you listen to WFAN, and that's your habit. And when WFAN goes to a commercial, maybe you'll sample us, and you'll listen to ‘Schein on Sports,’ and you'll listen to Katie Nolan, and Mad Dog, and Stephen A., and maybe you'll stick around. And that's my job to make sure you stick around.”
