WatchDog dooms 2011-12 Rangers
This is really weird: Last week I went on a tour of the renovated Madison Square Garden, which will host its first sports event when the Rangers face the Maple Leafs Thursday.
During the tour of the Knicks' new locker room, Garden CEO Hank Ratner advised the assembled journalists not to step on the team logo on the carpet, as that is apparently considered bad luck or a sign of disrespect or something.
I never had heard this before, but I steered clear anyway.
Then we went into the Rangers locker room, where the logo is even bigger. Apparently I allowed small parts of one of my shoes to touch the logo, as chronicled in this Deadspin post, in which I am referred to only as "baldy."
Oh my goodness gracious. I grew up a big Rangers fan and now if they falter this season I will be held personally responsible.
Please don't hurt me.
(P.S. One last important point in self defense about me standing on the Rangers' logo: It was covered in protective plastic!)
