UFC on Versus 2: Takanori Gomi remembers how to fight

OK, so maybe Takanori Gomi is for real. After a flat performance in his UFC debut against Kenny Florian, Gomi showed why he has the reputation he does.

In the 64 seconds of the first round at UFC on Versus 2 in San Diego, Calif., Gomi knocked out Tyson Griffin with a huge right hand.

"This is what I consider my start in the UFC," Gomi said. "The first time I was here, I really didn't  know how to fight American. You saw what happened today. I think I got the hang of it."

Gomi (32-6-1) ate a kick to his front (right) leg and still had enough power to knock Griffin out with a perfectly delivered right hand to his jaw. Griffin face-planted and Gomi landed a few more punches before referee Jason Herzog stepped in to smother Grffin.

It was the first time the lightweight Griffin (14-4) has ever been knocked out.
