Welcome back, Roger Huerta (well, sort of)
Roger Huerta, the former UFC lightweight fighter who landed the cover of Sports Illustrated a few years ago then was barely heard from again, has returned to the fight game.
Just not in the way most people figured.
Huerta is the subject of a video obtained by TMZ (shot on someone's iPhone) in Austin, Texas. In the video, he goes after some guy in the street and that guy cold-cocked a woman in the back of the head.
The video doesn't show the fight, but here's what you do see: The guy hitting the woman, Huerta yelling at him then running at him, then the guy on the street bloodied up.
Huerta, a former UFC fighter, last fought in Bellator and lost to Pat Curran in a second-round eliminator match by split decision on May 6, 2010.
Of course, no one really knows the entire story aside from maybe Huerta, but defending a woman from a blind-sided attack is a noble effort. No arrests have been made, according to reports, but the guess here is that as this video circulates the Internet, inquiries will be made. The next guess is that some politician who is anti-MMA will catch hold of it and paint a picture that supports his cause.
