First winner in Flushing

We're still in the first hour of first-round play, and Francesca Schiavone of Italy has advanced to the second round. It took No. 6 Schiavone just 58 minutes to blow by Ayumi Morita of Japan, 6-1,6-0. The Italian sports writers didn't even have time to finish their morning cappiccino.
