The match finished in just under four hours at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The match took place during the mid-afternoon hours when the heat was at its peak. Djokovic looked sluggish at times, but had enough in the tank to pull out the win.
Djokovic was in good spirits after the match as he was asked how it felt to experience the early-evening shadows on the court.
"It was like a sleeping-with-my-girlfriend kind of feeling," said Djokovic.
