Noah Rubin advances to USTA Boys 18 championship in Kalamazzo, Mich.

Noah Rubin of Rockville Centre will play for the USTA Boys 18 championship Sunday and a spot in the main draw of the U.S. Open after reaching the final at Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Rubin defeated Michael Mmoh 7-6 (1), 2-6, 7-5 Saturday and will face Collin Altamarino in Sunday's final. If Rubin wins, he automatically gets a wild card into the main draw of the Open. If he loses, he gets a wild card into the Open qualifying.
This has been a breakout summer for Rubin, who won the Wimbledon junior title in early July. Rubin had to gain the junior draw through qualifying and it took eight matches to win the title. The 18-year-old was seeded third at Kalamazoo.
"He's been working so hard, so focused this year," said his father and coach Eric Saturday. "He's playing solid tennis, smart tennis. His advantage is between the ears."
Rubin earned a wild card into the Open doubles Saturday when he and his partner, Stefan . . . Kozlov, won the boys doubles title. It was Kozlov, a friend, he beat in the Wimbledon final.
