Film star Anne Hathaway is set to play the lesbian aunt of gay teen Kurt Hummel, portrayed by Chris Colfer, in an upcoming episode of "Glee" - and she even has a song picked out that she wants to sing.

The deal came down during the Golden Globe Awards Sunday. "She presented the whole episode. She came up with the songs," series co-creator Ryan Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter, saying Hathaway approached him "on her way to the bathroom."

"She walked by our table and we have a mutual friend," Murphy told "Access Hollywood," "and I said, 'Do you really want to do it?' And she said, 'I do.' And I said, 'OK, we're gonna do it.' " He estimates they'll shoot her episode "probably in a month and a half or so."

Brad Falchuk, another co-creator, along with Ian Brennan, confirmed the news, telling Us magazine, "She and her agents made a deal. She came over and talked to Ryan about wanting to come on the show. And there you have it!" It was her idea, he added, "and [with] someone like her, it's sort of hard to say no."

Hathaway, 28, expressed a desire to do "Glee" on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon" in November, telling the talk-show host, "In my head, I've cast myself on 'Glee.' . . . I would wanna play Kurt's long-lost aunt, his mother's sister who is also gay, who comes back to help him deal with his sexuality, and I would sing, 'You Are Not Alone' from Stephen Sondheim's epic show 'Into the Woods.' "

Golden Globe-winner Colfer is certainly excited. "Anne Hathaway, lesbian - that sentence is awesome!" he told Us. "I am very much looking forward to that."
