George Clooney, Amal Alamuddin to marry in Italy

Oscar-winner George Clooney and his fiancee, human-rights and international-law attorney Amal Alamuddin, have obtained a marriage license in the United Kingdom, where the bride-to-be lives, according to a legal notice reportedly posted in London.

A photograph at the tabloid site Dlisted.com -- where a disclaimer reads, "Information on this site may or may not be true and not meant to be taken as fact" -- shows a "Notice of your Intention," which under British law must be displayed at a Register Office for 15 days before a marriage is allowed to take place. The site said the notice was posted at the Borough of Kensington and Chelsea municipal building.

The document states that Amal Ramzi Alamuddin, 36, a single barrister, is to marry George Timothy Clooney, 53, an actor and director whose previous marriage was dissolved. A truncated portion of the far right column says "Italy," which may be the planned location of the ceremony.

The new issue of WWD says the wedding is scheduled for Sept. 20 and may take place in Venice. The fashion-industry magazine additionally said the designer Giorgio Armani, a longtime favorite of "Gravity" star Clooney, had sent a team from his headquarters in Milan to the actor's home in Lake Como, Italy, for a fitting.

The law firm of the Beirut-born, Oxford-educated Alamuddin confirmed in late April that she and Clooney had become engaged. E! News said the two had dated for seven months and that Clooney had proposed with a 7-carat diamond ring worth an estimated minimum of $750,000.
