Their acrimonious split finally wound up in court Thursday as lawyers for Mel Gibson and ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva squared off over Grigorieva seeking to keep the film star away from their 8-month-old daughter, Lucia, citing domestic violence.

By day's end, Gibson had prevailed, TMZ.com reported, with the judge not ordering a change to a months-old visitation agreement providing Gibson daytime visits and one overnight a week.

Whether this status quo will last is uncertain, as attendees at the closed court hearing included Det. Dan Scott of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Special Victims Bureau and a representative from the Department of Children and Family Services, according to TMZ. Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore told The Associated Press CDs of alleged phone conversations between Gibson, 54, and Grigorieva, 40, were turned over to the department.

Gibson's estranged wife, Robyn, 54, who filed for divorce in April 2009, submitted a one-page declaration in the case, according to TMZ, stating Gibson "never engaged in any physical abuse of any kind toward me before, during or after our marriage" of 28 years, and that he "was a wonderful and loving father."

Authorities confirmed to AP that detectives were investigating Gibson in a possible separate domestic violence case.

And in a fifth undated recording allegedly of Gibson and Grigorieva, posted at RadarOnline.com, a voice that sounds like Gibson's rants about Grigorieva ruining his life, giving him bad publicity and driving him to desperate financial straits.
