Southern California police said Wednesday that Lindsay Lohan, the subject of a battery investigation following a scuffle with a staffer at the Betty Ford Center on Dec. 12, may have violated multiple provisions of her probation while a patient at the drug and alcohol rehab facility.
After announcing Tuesday that they were turning over their findings on the battery charge to the local District Attorney's office, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department and Palm Desert Police Department added in a new statement that, "The investigation and facts in evidence [have] revealed other possible violations by Ms. Lohan relating to certain conditions of her probation terms."
Shawn Chapman Holley, Lohan's attorney, Wednesday told TMZ.com, "I had numerous conversations with Betty Ford counselors and doctors and it was never suggested by anyone that she ever drank or used drugs. . . . Her discharge letter is totally consistent with that."
According to TMZ, Lohan reportedly told friends that the Palm Desert cops were attempting to torpedo her recovery.
Lohan is on parole stemming from a 2007 DUI conviction. She was released Monday from Betty Ford after completing a three-month inpatient sentence on a separate parole violation.
If Lohan is found to have violated probation, it could result in a jail sentence. Betty Ford staffer Dawn Holland said Lohan became physical with her after the star returned past curfew after an authorized night out, had alcohol on her breath and refused a Breathalyzer test.
Holland was dismissed from the center after having breached patient confidentiality by giving a paid interview to TMZ.
On Tuesday she told police she no longer wished to press battery charges and Wednesday Radar reported that Holland's attorney had released a statement saying "the recent reports of criminality and probation violations are much ado about nothing."
