Last night, we had the team competition and an extra added bonus -- a new judge, Sir Donnie Burns, one of the world's great ballroom dancers (now retired from active competition). "Our Tiger Woods," said Maksim Chmerkovskiy. And Long Island's Tiger Woods of the dance floor, Ralph Macchio, had a pair of tough tasks. First, the team competition, with Romeo and Chelsea Kane, and together, they performed a Samba romp; then, his solo.

On the team dance:

RALPH SAID: "I'm kinda feeling like the fish out of water . . . "

THE JUDGES SAID: "Thought you did a terrific job" (Len Goodman); "You lost sync so many times." (Bruno Tonioli); "I think you all were in sync." (Carrie Ann Inaba); "Ralph, as good as you were, you fluffed a few little footwork [steps]. (Burns.)

SCORE: 30 out of 40

On his solo quickstep:

RALPH SAID: "The quickstep is unrelenting. My body is barely hanging in there."

THE JUDGES SAID: "Your footwork . . . was fabulous; you rocked (Burns); "Liked the energy . . . clear and crisp" (Goodman); "A great performer, in the zone" (Tonioli); "Booyah, you're back." (Inaba.)

SCORE: 36 out of 40

MY SAY: Ralph got his first 10 of the season -- from perhaps an overly-generous Burns.

But he turned out one of his single best routines -- the murderous quickstep -- of the season. He was less sure in the team comp, but with a 66 on the night, he's solid.
