Pop star Britney Spears defended herself Thursday against allegations by a former bodyguard that she had sexually harassed him and mistreated her two children.

Responding to a lawsuit by Fernando Flores against both Spears and Advanced Security Concepts Corp., his employer, a Spears representative posted on the singer's official site: "This lawsuit is another unfortunate situation where someone is trying to take advantage of the Spears family and make a name for himself. The Department of Children and Family Services conducted a proper investigation surrounding Mr. Flores' accusations and have closed the case without any further action. Ms. Spears and her attorneys have every expectation that this matter will be dismissed by the courts."

Flores charges that Spears, 28, frequently appeared naked in front of him and behaved lewdly and suggestively. The suit states that when he approached his supervisor, Josh McMahan, he "was rebuffed with the remark, 'You know you liked it.' "

Flores also claimed he witnessed Spears beating one of her children with a belt, and feeding crabmeat to the seafood-allergic boys, Sean Preston, 4, and Jayden James, 3.

A woman who answered the security firm's telephone on Wednesday would not comment to The Associated Press.

Spears' ex-husband, dancer-actor Kevin Federline, who has custody of the children, defended his ex-wife.

His attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told the AP that Federline considers the charges "baseless" and that, "He is satisfied that the allegations are a product of economic motives."

Flores told RadarOnline.com Wednesday he believes he is encountering a "double standard" as a man filing a sexual harassment lawsuit against a woman.
