Remember then, then, then, then - the 1950s and early '60s when doo-wop was at the top of the charts? If so, this is the perfect weekend to relive the glory notes of groups from The Duprees to The Tokens as NYCB Theatre at Westbury and Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts each host oldies shows Saturday night.

While the audiences are mostly made up of baby boomers ("They're devoted radio people who listened to stations like CBS-FM. They love this music and will stay with this music till they die," says Mickey B, producer and host of the Patchogue show), they're not the only ones who want to let the good times roll.

"A lot more younger people are coming than ever before," says Dick Fox, producer of the Westbury concert. "I think they came with their parents, and now they're coming on their own. It's great to see."

Both shows promise star-filled lineups, but if you can't make those, there are also some doo-wop blasts from the past slated for October.

Mickey B has put together a nifty '50s lineup that includes The Duprees of "You Belong to Me" fame; Emil Stucchio and the Classics, Kenny Vance and the Planotones, and Somewhere in Time, a Long Island-based a cappella group.

"We try to have a lot of locals mixed in with the headliners. We also like to introduce a lot of new talent doing the old songs," Mickey B says. "There's a girl with Cathy and the Revivals called Mia in my next show in February. She's 11 years old. And for another show, I have a young fellow who sounds just like Frankie Lymon."

And to demonstrate the healing power of music, part of the proceeds from Saturday's show will go to Children's Foundation of Suffolk, a Holbrook-based organization that helps sick children.

If you're in the mood to hear Lenny Cocco and the Chimes sing hits "I'm in the Mood for Love" and "Once in a While," you won't want to miss this show that also benefits injured soldiers coming back from Iraq and Afghanistan. Some of the other acts on the bill include Barbara Harris and the Toys ("Lovers Concerto"), Earl Lewis and the Channels and The Devotions.

Cocco, who'll take the stage with Pat DePrisco and Rich Mercado, both original members of the Chimes, says there's always a welcome audience for their shows. "The appeal is the music," he says. "The words aren't dirty or demeaning. We're singing 'I'm in the Mood for Love,' not 'let's smoke a joint.' "

ALSO TRY Vito Picone and the Elegants ("Little Star") and a cappella group 3rd Edition will take the stage Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. at Stuart Thomas Manor, 2143 Boundary Ave., Farmingdale in a doo-wop show to benefit Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation.
