Bill O'Reilly, Jon Stewart rumble on 'The Daily Show'

In what very much looked like a continuation of "The Rumble in the Air-Conditioned Auditorium" from 2012, Jon Stewart and Bill O'Reilly mixed it up on Wednesday's "The Daily Show" over that eternal O'Reilly/Stewart debate topic of "white privilege."

Of note here for Long Island-based readers and viewers: Levittown ...yes, Levittown ... played a prominent role in this mini-debate.

It all begins this way: Stewart, stepping around the obligatory discussion of O'Reilly's new book, "Killing Patton," asks him to accede to his point that white privilege exists in modern day America. O'Reilly -- clearly prepped backstage about the segment -- took the bait, and away they went.

I notice that some sites are already calling this a "wild shouting match," or deploying hyperbole of that nature. But it was seemingly reasonably good-natured, with the histrionics on both side stoked by theatrics as much as conviction.

O'Reilly declared, "I'm sitting here because I'm obnoxious, not because I'm white," and Stewart wrapping the entire segment up by calling their attempt to reach common ground "a beautiful moment of healing." (Levittown? Stewart noted that blacks couldn't live there in 1950 -- which O'Reilly did not dispute -- and because of that, O'Reilly was the embodiment of White Privilege because he spent part of his youth there.).
