'Teen Mom' seeks counseling after outburst
Amber Portwood, one of the eponymous stars of the MTV reality series "Teen Mom," says she and on-again-off-again fiance Gary Shirley are in counseling after she hit and screamed at him on the Sept. 28 episode, which prompted viewer outrage and a police investigation.
Last season, Portwood had also tried to choke the much-larger Shirley.
"I want to stop it, because I don't want to be like that," Portwood says in the new issue of Us magazine, adding that she's working with a counselor "on how to calm down when things happen. . . . If I get mad, I always try to think about Leah and how an [outburst] will affect her."
Though the two parents of daughter Leah, 23 months, are seen dating other people on the season finale, they are now vacationing together in Florida and "aren't due back until the middle of October," Det. Mitch Carroll of the Anderson, Ind., Police Department told RadarOnline.com Wednesday.
