Billy Joel, Stevie Nicks tribute concerts fill the holiday lull on Long Island

After the hoopla of Christmas and before New Year’s celebrations begin, escape from the holiday madness. Catch a concert at a local venue during the in-between. Here are six shows not to miss that are happening during the holiday lull.
DEC. 26: PIANO MEN: YELLOW BRICK JOEL AT FLAGSTAR AT WESTBURY MUSIC FAIR

David Clark from All About Joel and Bill Connors from American Elton join forces for the second annual Piano Men: Yellow Brick Joel show at 8 p.m. These singer-pianists will impersonate Billy Joel and Elton John by recreating their famous "Face to Face Tour."
"We come out together and do a couple of songs. I leave and Bill does a 25-minute set. Then he leaves and I do a 25-minute set," says Clark, who grew up in Hempstead. "After an intermission, we come out together, both barrels blazing, singing each other’s songs in a rapid second act. It’s super fun."
The show will include Joel classics like "Only the Good Die Young," "It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me," "New York State of Mind" and "Miami 2017” as well as John favorites such as "Saturday Night’s Alright (for Fighting)," "Crocodile Rock," "Rocket Man" and "Benny and the Jets."
"It’s all hit friendly," Clark promises. "We want people to leave satisfied."

DEC. 26: DECADIA AT THE WAREHOUSE

Dance and sing along to the pop rock explosion of Decadia, a tribute band that zeroes in on the music of the '70s, '80s and '90s at 6:30 p.m.
"This band doesn’t worry about costumes or wigs but rather focuses on the music. We try to sound as close to the artists as possible," says singer Peter Cintorino, of Bethpage. "Decadia acts like a time machine by giving you all the things that you forgot you loved."
The band serves as a mixtape of dance songs from Cyndi Lauper, Madonna and Prince to arena rock anthems by Bon Jovi, Journey and Boston to artists who came and went like The Outfield, Tommy Tutone and The Human League.
Cintorino notes, "We want people to come out and as Billy Joel said, ‘Forget about life for awhile’ by leaving the stress at home and party with us."

DEC. 26-27: GET THE LED OUT AT THE PARAMOUNT

The six-piece Led Zeppelin tribute band Get The Led Out returns for its annual winter two-night stand at 8 p.m..
"We do different shows every time we play. Each night gets changed by 50%," lead singer/founding member Paul Sinclair says. "Our specialty is delivering the songs the way they are on the records."
The 2-hour, 15-minute performance includes 20 numbers and contains a three-song acoustic set where tracks like "Going to California," "That’s the Way," "Tangerine" or "Hey Hey What Can I Do" are highlighted. While the set list changes, expect to hear staples like "Kashmir," "Stairway to Heaven," "Whole Lotta Love," "Moby Dick" and "Ramble On."

Put on your boogie shoes and get ready to move during the 10th annual Long Island Disco Fever at 7:30 p.m. . The bill features France Joli, The Trammps featuring Earl Young, Peaches & Herb, Lime, Alisha, Disco Unlimited, The Blue Notes, Anita Ward and First Choice.
"This is always a magical show. The room is filled with such happiness, energy and love," Joli says. "Everyone is always up on their feet dancing and singing along."
Young adds, "Westbury Music Fair is my favorite place to perform because every seat in the house is a good seat and the stage revolves so everyone can see you."

DEC. 27: WINTER FREESTYLE BASH 2025 AT MULCAHY'S

Freestyle fans will gather for the Winter Freestyle Bash 2025 starting at 8 p.m., and this year’s lineup includes Judy Torres, TKA, George Lamond and Cynthia.
"Freestyle is the marriage of hip-hop and dance music," says K7 (Louis Sharpe-Figueroa) of TKA. "It’s what happens when a romance novel is turned into poetry that is put over a hard and fast hip-hop beat."
Torres adds, "Freestyle is always about love — falling in love, falling out of love, being betrayed by love, questioning love or getting a second chance at love."

Unfortunately, Fleetwood Mac is no more, therefore the next best thing is catching New York-based tribute band Fleetwood Macked, which plays their hits from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s at 8 p.m.
"Our focus is to put on the best representation of Fleetwood Mac that we can, both visually and sonically. It’s not about ego for us," says singer Hillary Epstein, of Smithtown, who portrays Stevie Nicks. "We are there for the audience because we are as in love with Fleetwood Mac as they are. It comes from the heart. For us, it's organic."
