There are more than a couple of notable things about this Saturday’s pairing event at Black Sheep Ale House in Mineola.

First, there’s no wine involved. To celebrate Oktoberfest, Black Sheep’s proprietor, Vince Minutella, will be selecting from among 10 German (or German-style American) brews to pair with the four-course menu.

Second, Black Sheep isn’t a restaurant: If you want food to accompany the bar’s vast and ever-changing roster of beers, you are usually limited to the Jamaican stylings of the Jodie & Jay Jerk Cuizine trailer parked outside.

Third, the evening’s meat-centric fare will be prepared by one of Long Island’s top fish cooks. Craig Attwood, chef-owner of Five Ocean in Long Beach, is temporarily giving up his sea legs to offer:

* Potato pancake with roasted apples and sour cream

* Pork schnitzel with local squash and brown butter-sage spaetzle

* Sauerbraten with pickled red cabbage and potatoes

* Kaiserschmarrn (a sweet pancake shredded and topped with preserves)

You can feast indoors or, weather permitting, in Black Sheep’s 100-seat garden. The tab comes to $44 per person plus tax and tip. (If you’d rather opt out of the beer, food alone is $29.)

The festivities get underway on Saturday at 6:30 and reservations are required. To reserve, call the restaurant or message its Facebook page

The Black Sheep Ale House is at 78 2nd St., Mineola, 516-307-1280.
