Center Moriches School District technology questionnaire
These are the replies from some districts to the Newsday questionnaire regarding the use of new technologies in their classrooms.
Some of the answers are elaborate, and have not been edited or reduced. Some districts did not answer the questions directly.
1. Please list any major technological innovations introduced in the classroom in the past three years. Please give the name and list the use for each item.
We have installed SMART boards in 50% of the district's classrooms. They are used as interactive presentation tools in grades K-2 and 8-12. In all other classrooms, we have introduced wall mounted projectors to utilize the computer and its technology in the presentation of lessons.
2. Please tell us of any major innovations you are planning to introduce within the next year.
Within the next 6 months we will be incorporating full text capable remotes in all HS classrooms to allow every student to be engaged in immediate text response to questions posed by the teacher in presentation. Document cameras and other SMART response systems will be available at each grade level. We will also be adding SMART tables to our lower level autism programs for sensory integration and engagement.
3. Are teachers or students using cellphones in the district for instructional purposes?
No.
