Syosset School District technology questionnaire
These are the replies from some districts to the Newsday questionnaire regarding the use of new technologies in their classrooms.
Some of the answers are elaborate, and have not been edited or reduced. Some districts did not answer the questions directly.
Technological Tools in the Classrooms

* Edmodo (Education Social Networking) - Secure website for students and teachers to interact and blog about daily reading assignments.
* Animoto (Online Video Production) -
* Digital Animation - Computer aided drawing program used to create still works of art as well as animated video pieces.
* "Storytelling Alice" - Used to create animated stories in English curriculum
* Podcasts - Students can access digital programs related to specific curriculum, and learn to create their own.
* Online Math Programs - Online textbooks and lessons used to provide interactive learning experiences.
* Google Voice - telecommunications tool used by high school World Language students and teachers
Digital Video Cameras: (Grades K-12)
* Used for video projects, presentations, field trips to support curriculum Virtual Tours: (Grades 6-8)
* Used in SS curriculum to provide experiences of historical sites students cannot physically visit.

* Hand held video camera/ microscope used in Science/ Nanotechnology to support students' observation and research skills
Nintendo Wii Game System: (Grades 6-8)
* Interactive gaming system used in Physical Education classes Student Response System (Clickers): (Grades 6-12)
* An input device used in the classrooms that allows students to express their views in anonymity and allows teachers to download responses in order to assess student understanding.
* Promotes active learning by enhancing student engagement and encourages participation.
Closed Circuit TV: (Grades K-5)
* Used to broadcast morning announcements into the classrooms
* Used for broadcasting WTLC presentations into the classrooms
* Used to broadcast the grade 5 moving-up ceremony into the classrooms Videoconferencing (Grades 6-8)
