A Westbury man convicted of raping a 10-year-old girl in a public bathroom and then stabbing her father to death after he reported the rape to police will serve 32 1/2 years to life in prison, a Nassau judge has ruled.

Ulises Bonilla, 23, was found guilty in December of second-degree murder, first-degree rape and other charges.

Prosecutors said in September 2010, Bonilla lured a 10-year-old girl into the bathroom at Martin "Bunky" Reid Park in New Cassel and raped her. Two of the girl's friends, who were with her at the time, ran to her home and told her father about the attack, prosecutors said.

But when the girl's father called police, his daughter denied to them she had been raped, and police did not arrest Bonilla, prosecutors said. Later that night, the girl's father, whom Newsday is not naming because his daughter is a rape victim, confronted Bonilla at a Westbury deli, prosecutors said.

Four days later, Bonilla went to the father's house. As the two men argued about the rape, Bonilla pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim's father 12 times, prosecutors said.

Bonilla ran away but was caught by Nassau police in Manhattan's Penn Station about two months later, prosecutors said.

Bonilla's lawyer, Daniel Millman of Roslyn, said during the trial that there was no physical evidence showing that his client had actually stabbed the girl's father.
